Work with us

Services

The work that funds the work. Five things our crew does for other people, between our own shoots.

Five services

The work that funds the work

Myth Signs has produced film, television and institutional work since 2010. These five services are delivered by the same crew developing “I Thought You Were Real” — which means a small team, a named contact, and no account manager between you and the people holding the camera.

01

Narrative Film Production

Shorts, features and proof-of-concept pieces, from a locked script through to a delivered DCP. We take projects at any stage from first draft onwards, and we are equally happy producing for another director as directing ourselves.

  • Scheduling, budgeting and crewing
  • Location scouting and permits (HK & central Europe)
  • Production insurance and contracting
  • Festival-spec delivery: DCP, ProRes, subtitle files
  • Short film
  • Feature
  • Proof of concept
02

Documentary & Archive Filmmaking

Observational and archive-led documentary, including the unglamorous parts: rights clearance, provenance research and restoration of degraded footage. Currently in preparation on a documentary about the handmade trails of Mui Tsz Lam, Hong Kong.

  • Long-form observational shooting
  • Archive research and rights clearance
  • Restoration and conform of legacy formats
  • Oral-history interview production
  • Observational
  • Archive
  • Oral history
03

Post-Production, Edit & Colour

Our director came to film through editing, and it shows in what this department can take on. Offline and online edit, colour grade, sound design and mix, subtitling and full festival deliverables — including rescue work on projects that have stalled in someone else's timeline.

  • Offline edit and re-cutting of stalled assemblies
  • Online conform, colour grade and titles
  • Sound design, ADR supervision and stereo/5.1 mix
  • Subtitling, QC and delivery packaging
  • Edit
  • Grade
  • Sound
  • Delivery
04

Brand, Corporate & Cultural Films

Institutional and cultural-sector films for universities, museums, NGOs and architecture practices. Past clients through Myth Signs include the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, ING Macau, Value Partners Group, Orbis Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society.

  • Institutional and campaign films
  • Architecture and exhibition documentation
  • NGO and fundraising films
  • Multi-language versioning

05

Development, Script & Funding Consultancy

Script notes, budget and schedule modelling, and funding-application support for first and second features. This is the service we wish had existed when we started: an honest read of whether a project is fundable in its current form, and a specific list of what would make it so.

  • Structural script notes and a written development plan
  • Budget and schedule modelling at three financing scenarios
  • Funding application drafting (European and Asian schemes)
  • Pitch-deck, look-book and market-materials preparation
  • Co-production structuring between HK and EU entities
  • Script notes
  • Budgeting
  • Applications
  • Co-production

How it runs

Four steps, no surprises

01

Conversation

Thirty minutes, free, and often ending with us telling you the project does not need us.

02

Written scope

A fixed-price scope with named deliverables, a schedule, and what is explicitly out of scope.

03

Production

A single named contact throughout, and daily notes on shoot days rather than a weekly summary.

04

Delivery

Masters, project files and source media handed over. You own the files, including the timeline.

Practicalities

Rates, rights and reach

Fixed price against a written scope, in EUR or HKD. Day rates exist for post work and for consultancy, but we prefer scoped pricing because it makes the deliverable, not the hours, the thing being bought.
You do, on final payment — including raw media and editable project files. We ask only for the right to show finished work in our own portfolio, and that right is waivable.
Hong Kong and central Europe as home bases, and we travel. Post-production is handled remotely for clients anywhere, with review links and colour-managed reference notes.
Yes, and more often than you might expect. If a project is stuck in an edit, send us the assembly and a paragraph on what you wanted it to be. We will tell you honestly whether it can be recovered.
We do not make political advertising, and we do not take work that requires us to present staged material as documentary footage.

Include a deadline and a budget range if you have one. It makes the first reply far more useful.
